Nail Polish

I am loving the trend of the putty/taupe colored nail polish that has been seen all over the runway and on celebrities. It is an unexpected neutral that is perfect for the Fall season!

Harvest Party

My cousin Savannah hosted a delightful Harvest party for
our two families last weekend. She held it at her
parent's house, in their barn. They took
part of the barn and remodeled it into a bar
and entertaining area. It is such a cool space, and
the perfect place for an autumn party.

This roast chicken was absolutely delicious. The recipe is from
Ina Garten's cookbook Barefoot in Paris or can be found here.

Bridal Accesories

More from the Luly Yang fashion show....

I loved the shoes the models wore during the show, there were two different kinds,
made by the designer. The shoes were sparkly and glittery and absolutely gorgeous.

The other great accent was the ornaments in the hair. They were sparkly green and white branch-like tendrils and some hair styles also incorporated leaves.

And The Bride Wore White (Sort of)

Last week I went to a bridal show here in Seattle, and there was a fashion
show from wedding dress designer Luly Yang. Her collection this
season was inspired by the ocean and the theme of the
bridal show was woods and nature, so she
combined the two for a beautiful show.

This unconventional dress mimics the ocean, it reminds me of seaweed. I love
the pink color and the skirt had great movement. I would
never think to wear a dress like this, but was enamored with it.

This dress was one of my favorites. I love the tulle skirt
and the corset back. It was gorgeous as
it flowed and moved down the runway.
It is my dream princess dress.

I must have a thing for tulle because this dress was my other favorite. I love the long sleeved cotton top juxtaposed with the beautiful skirt. This is another dress I would never pick off the rack, but after seeing it in person I would definitely try it on. I really like how different it is from the standard strapless wedding gown.

Mad Men

Tonight is the season finale of Mad Men on AMC. Mad Men has become a cultural phenomenon that has inspired numerous trends. It has inspired people to try new drinks such as the sidecar and the classic martini, and has brought back fashion staples from the 60's like pencil skirts and sheath dresses.

Mad Men is one the most sophisticated and well written shows and I don't want to have to wait for another season to see some of my favorite characters on tv! I love the character development on the show, and I am mesmerized by the scenery and fashion. I have a special love for Joan Holloway Harris, I want all her clothes and her signature gold pencil necklace.

Don has done some unraveling this season and I am curious to see where they will take his character after this . And what is in store for Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce? Will they succeed or will they go under?

My New Favorite Blush!

Smashbox blush in Flush

This bright pink blush is from Smashbox and is the perfect color to brighten up
the pale skin of winter. It has a little shimmer in it that gives the skin a nice glow. I was addicted to Nars' bright pink blush, but when Sephora was out of it,
I chose this one instead. I like them both, but this one is less
expensive and I really like the shimmery aspect.

Pumpkins!

As the pumpkins in her garden were growing, my mom etched names into them that would stay with them as they got bigger. They turned out great and were very festive!

This is a little display on her island in the kitchen. The statue is always decorated for the season!
